Honda CL450K5 Street Scrambler 1973

Completely original and painstakingly restored the US market only Honda CL450 K5 (1973).

The bike has covered very few miles (16,700) and was only brought into the UK from America in 1998 and was in good general condition before I began the restoration.

It currently has a years Tax and MOT.

I bought it in 2003 and began restoring it, starting with a complete strip down and blasting of the frame and repainting (see pics). The engine was also completely stripped, vapour blasted, inspected and new camchain and rings fitted.

The wheels & brakes were totally stripped down, the original DID rims re-chromed and the spokes re-plated. The bike has recent C&S and very good tyres front and back.

All chrome parts have been re-plated and a new seat cover fitted. The tank paint is original and does show some very minor signs of age, the side panels were re-sprayed using the original paint from a dedicated motorcycle paint supplier.

It has all original Honda grey cables of the era and original (new) Honda grips and rubber tipped levers. I also have the original shocks which are in fair condition (springs re-chromed) although it currently has brand new Hagon shocks fitted which are more effective than the old stock items.

The bike has a new battery & starts beautifully on the electric starter or via kick start. It runs and drives superbly.

I also have a copy of the original Honda sales brochure, genuine owners manual, service book and associated gubbins. Since the restoration was completed the bike has only been used for occasional summer rides and has lived in my lounge since 2005.

Out on the road the bike rides exceptionally well and handles brilliantly.
